MBN Nanomaterialia at the Helm of ADD-MAT – Advanced Materials for Sustainable Additive Manufacturing of Tools and Moulds
MBN Nanomaterialia is proud to be driving ADD-MAT – Advanced Materials for Digital and Sustainable Manufacturing, a research and innovation project financed within the INEST – Interconnected Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem.
In ADD-MAT, MBN is developing and validating innovative material solutions for laser-assisted additive manufacturing, enabling advanced surface enhancement of mould inserts used in plastic injection moulding.
The project’s approach is based on the integration of three main technological innovations:
- Powder material design and sustainable production, with tailored compositions to enhance wear resistance and heat transfer.
- Highly efficient laser-assisted metal deposition, to create high-performance wear resistant coatings on moulds and inserts.
- Design and engineering of moulds and inserts to maximize process flexibility, sustainability, and productivity by fully leveraging the potential of advanced materials and additive processes.
Through ADD-MAT, MBN continues to reinforce its commitment to accelerating sustainable industrial innovation through advanced powder technologies.
The initiative is funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under the PNRR – Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.5 – Creation and Strengthening of Innovation Ecosystems and supported by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, through grant agreement ECS00000043.
