Through the expertise in the research, MBN has developed the capability to work materials for hydrogen storage (tanks). Magnesium-based materials are particularly indicated because, besides consideration pertaining economical aspects, the nano-structuring effects induced by MBN technology enhance the capacity of material to store hydrogen and its charge/discharge speed (kinetics properties).
Similar effects have been demonstrated on the Energy storage field (button cells) where, structural modifications at crystal level allowed to increase the available current especially at low temperature.
Specifically, MBN has acquired knowledge and has developed technologies for the production of:

  • hydrogen storage: Catalyzed magnesium alloys
  • button cells: Nickel-Metal hydride alloys
